Students learned about Pablo Picasso, Cubism, and contemporary artist Kimmy Cantrell. Ask your students where Picasso's inspiration for Cubism came from! We investigated Atlanta local Kimmy Cantrell's contemporary work. Students then designed their cardboard relief mask.
Students learned all about the Chinese Lunar New Year. Otters and Narwhals are making kinetic paper dragons, incorporating bleeding tissue paper, block printing, and movable parts to bring their dragons to life.
The oldest two classes moved into block printmaking. Students carved prints into tiny erasers to learn printing techniques, flipping the image, graphite transfer, and carving negative space. They are currently working on their final projects, carving soft linoleum block.
